Energy demands and battery management are one of the key issues faced by electric forklifts. Unlike diesel or LPG internal combustion units, where additional fuel can be easily added to an empty tank, an electric forklift battery typically requires 8 hours to charge (without fast charging technology) and another 8 hours to cool down afterwards. As such, it’s essential to maximize your battery in anyway possible, which is why Stärke electric forklifts include our innovative regenerative braking system.

Regenerative braking is a braking system that can recapture much of the truck’s kinetic energy during deceleration or changes in direction. By reversing direction, an AC motor acts as a generator that converts motion into electricity, so that it can be used to recharge the batteries. This process prolongs the run-time of a lift battery and allows for more up-time while the truck is in operation. This system is available on all Stärke electric 3 and 4 wheel counterbalance forklifts and in many of our LiftMaxx industrial lifts.

A significant reduction in brake wear is another reason to look for regenerative braking on your electric truck. This technology works in such a way where the electric motor of the forklift is used to slow down the truck when the operator backs off on the accelerator to slow down or during a direction change. Since this process reduces the friction and heat produced by the braking system, regenerative braking systems also reduce the wear and tear on the braking system as well.

Stärke has created the most stable electric pallet truck on the market, offering added protection against product damage while in transit. With less than half the wearable parts of the competition, a Stärke electric pallet truck also offers fewer maintenance calls. An adjustable riser rod alters the height of your wheels with a simple nut adjustment, while offering ease of maintenance because of its simple, yet sturdy design. Stärke also uses metal components, rather than plastic, in many instances where our competitors do not; allowing for less wearable parts, and less down-time.
